A CHORAL girl is dedicating her winning streak in a national music competition to her late grandfather who bought her singing lessons as a Christmas present.
Abigail Farrell has made it through to the regional finals of the Teen Star Competition where she will have to perform in front of 500 people.
The 10-year-old from Willington, in County Durham, has been singing since she was small and is a member of the choir at her school, St Stephen’s Primary in her hometown.
Her mother Amanda said: “Abigail is excited but nervous about the final, she is full of confidence though.
“I know every parent thinks their child is amazing at everything but we are really proud of her, she has definitely got a big talent.”
In 2011 her grandparents, John and Susan Hart, bought Abigail singing lessons.
Mr Hart passed away last year, and Mrs Farrell said: “Sadly he never got to see her sing at an audition but Abigail is dedicating her performances to him.”
The regional final will be held at the Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre in Newcastle on Saturday, March 22, and if she is successful, Abigail will go to the national final at the O2 arena in London.
