A CD of ballads, poems and readings has been released which is designed to depict the personal cost of the First World War.
The North-East branch of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, formerly the Army Benevolent Fund, has released the CD as a tribute to people who those who served and their families during the Great War and will raise money for current veterans.
Only Remembered is designed to depict the war through the eyes of the generals, soldiers and families left behind with readings and music.
The musicians and narrators involved in the CD, who gave their services free of charge, include singer Vicki Guillory, from Newcastle, the widow of well known guitarist and singer-songwriter Isaac Guillory, who died in 2000.
This Morning agony aunt Denise Robertson and Alasdair Hutton, who provides a narrative for the Edinburgh Tattoo, were also involved in the making of the CD.
Only Remembered will be available from Northern Lights Music in Newcastle on CD and Digital Download from March 3 at their online music store; www.northernlightsmusic.biz and on other online music stores.
The album launch will take place on Saturday, March 1 at the Sage Gateshead, where the entire collection of songs and poems will be performed live, and the CD will be on sale.
