POLICE have launched a manhunt after an armed robber stole cash from a County Durham service station.
The masked man threatened the cashier at Parkhead Service Station, in Coundon, near Bishop Auckland, before making off with a quantity of cash.
Durham Police confirmed the weapon was not a firearm but could not be specific about what it was.
The robbery occurred at around 10.15pm on Thursday (February 20), and the suspect is described as being of medium build, wearing a light green jacket with the hood up and a scarf covering his face.
The man made off across the forecourt on foot heading in the direction of Spennymoor, on the A688.
Witnesses should call DC Gareth Hodgson, at Bishop Auckland CID, on 101.
