TRAIN fans hoping to repair historic bridges which formed part of the original Stockton and Darlington Railway have launched a website to detail their work.
The Brusselton Incline Group was set up after the Milk Road and Accommodation Bridges, at Brusselton, near Shildon, County Durham, were damaged last July.
Thieves stole stone from the bridges and the Brusselton group has been trying to identify the owners of the structures so that repairs can take place.
The group, formerly known as The Brusselton Bridges Preservation Group, launched its website based at Brusseltoninclinegroup.webs.com this week.
Recently the team appointed Trevor Horner as chairman of the group while Paul Harle became treasurer and Michael O’Neill secretary.
An application has submitted been by the group to Maria Miller MP, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, seeking approval to clear Brusselton Incline of overgrown shrubbery.
Talks are also on-going with English Heritage and Durham County Council about the work.
