BETTER access and visitor facilities will be created at a nature reserve thanks to a £27,660 grant.
The Durham Wildlife Trust is is getting the money from the SITA Trust for work at its Rainton Meadows site between Durham City and Sunderland.
The Access for All Project will see about 1.2 kms of footpaths improved to provide an all-weather surface for people of all abilities and the installation of colour coded waymarkers that will support a self-guided nature trail around the site.
Reserve manager Mark Richardson said: “Thanks to funding from SITA Trust, Durham Wildlife Trust can further enhance the facilities at Rainton Meadows, which will allow even more people to enjoy the wildlife and landscapes of this special nature reserve.”
