A TOURIST information centre has handed over a cheque for £50 to local charities.
Hilda Ellis, manager of Richmond Tourist Information Centre, presented the cheque to Richmond Mayor Councillor Bob White as a donation to his mayor’s charities – Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Garget Walker House and 4th Mechanised Brigade’s Black Rats.
Mrs Ellis said: “We commissioned a Richmond calendar showing some lovely pictures of Richmond at the end of last year, and the mayor kindly wrote a short message to go inside, so I am donating £1 per calendar to the mayor’s charities.”
Coun White said: “My sincere thanks to Hilda and her team, not only for this generous donation, which will please my charities, but also for all the hard work they put in advertising and promoting Richmond throughout the year.
“Most of the residents do not realise just how many tourists call into the office for information and assistance - they do a wonderful job."
