THIEVES have stolen more than 100 wheels from brand new trucks in a targeted and pre-planned raid.
The owners of Auto Plates UK discovered the audacious theft when they turned up for work on Wednesday morning (February 19).
In total 117 wheels were stolen from 27 flat bed trucks as well as six tailgates from the brand new Ford Transit vehicles sometime overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday at the unit on Middlesbrough Road East, South Bank, Middlesbrough.
The stolen wheels were fitted with Bridgestone 623 tyres, which are rare in the UK.
Bill White, who runs Auto Plates, said: “This was clearly a pre-planned theft as it will have taken plenty of time to remove all of the wheels. They have known what they were coming for and have managed to steal more than 100 wheels.
“These tyres are very distinctive and are quite rare in this country.”
Anyone who may know the whereabouts of the wheels or anyone with information regarding those responsible is asked to contact DC Matthew Waterfield at Redcar & Cleveland CID on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555-111.
