A SPONSORED bike ride has been held to raise money to fund a community project.
Consett YMCA Prince’s Trust volunteers have raised around £150 for the scheme to enhance parts of Quaking Houses and South Moor, near Stanley.
The group of eleven 16 to 23-year-olds, from the Stanley area, cycled 18 miles from Oakey’s Park, in Stanley, to Roker Pier, in Sunderland, this morning. (Thursday, February 20)
Work including painting planting and litter picking is being carried as part of the 12-week Prince’s Trust scheme this week and next.
Team leader Carl Ingham said: “We are trying to make things a little bit better for the people in these communities.
“The young people are loving it and have really thrown themselves into it.”
