A MAN accused of conspiring to defraud a pensioner out of £6,500 by claiming a woman would marry him if he paid her dowry and airfare has appeared before magistrates.
Ibrahim Adeleke Olorunfunmi, of Liardet Street, London, is alleged to have conspired with others to defraud the man between Friday, February 7, and yesterday (Wednesday, February 19) at Crook in County Durham.
Mr Olorunfunmi, 28, did not enter a plea for a charge of conspiring to commit fraud by false representation when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court today (Thursday, February 20).
The case was committed to Durham Crown Court on Thursday, February 27.
Mr Olorunfunmi was remanded in custody.
