Jay's animal encounters

What? Jays Animal Encounters
Where? The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle
When? from 10am
Jays return to the museum with a selection of wonderful creatures including tarantulas, snakes and scorpians. Children will be able to hangle the animals and learn interesting facts before creating a piece of artwork to take home. Booking required. 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm.

Get your craft hats on as we give you all the necessary materials to make your own pet dragonfly. Make it as simple or as fabulous as you like and whizz them home when you’re done. On until Feb 23.

What? Time Travellers Go... Gruesome
Where? Whitby Abbey

Delve into the more gruesome side of history when you meet Thomas Turlis, the public hangman with his gallows, ropes and other tools of his trade. Crime and punishment during the Georgian period was severe, with death applied to over 200 offences. This is a dynamic and hands-on activity week up at the abbey. On until Feb 23.
