MUSIC festival organisers have announced a second headline act in what promises to be a bumper year for the volunteer-run event in Richmond.
Having recently announced The South – featuring former members of The Beautiful South - as first headline act, Richmond Live organisers have announced the second headliner for the Saturday evening as Dreadzone.
The band brings a blend of electro dub and reggae to Richmond Live. Well-known for top 20 hit Little Britain and performing in the past at Glastonbury, Dreadzone has been together for more than 20 years.
Richmond Live marketing manager Jon Naylor said: “Such a successful event last year has given us a great head start for the 2014 show. It means we have funds available to attract the acts we are looking for and get them signed up much earlier than before.
“That’s why we are proud to be able to announce a second headline act for Saturday evening.”
Richmond Live has grown from humble roots 16 years ago to the weekend event it is now but is still based in The Batts next to the River Swale.
Since then bands including From The Jam, Paul Carrack, Marillion and Bad Manners have hit the stage and wowed the crowds into the night.
The non-profit making event relies heavily on donations and support from across the local community, and the committee is keen to thank sponsors, including the Darlington and Stockton Times, the many Friends of Richmond Live and the hard-working volunteers.
Richmond Live runs from 4.45pm to 11pm on Friday, August 1 and noon to 11pm on Saturday, August 2.
Tickets cost £5 for Friday on the gate; £10 for Saturday on the gate; £13 for weekend on the gate; and £10 for the weekend in advance from www.richmondlive.org and selected outlets closer to the event.
