THE North-East’s premier cricket ground will host a concert by pop group Boyzone this summer.
Durham County Cricket Club is building a reputation for hosting popular musical events at its ground in Chester-le-Street.
Following the successes of the Tom Jones, Jessy J and Big Reunion concerts, the club was keen to attract another big name.
On Saturday, June 7 Boyzone will take to the stage at the Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground on the banks of the River Wear.
The band was formed in November 1993 in Dublin and has become one of the biggest names in the music industry.
They have released 21 singles, seven albums, achieved 25 million record sales.
They scored 16 consecutive top five singles such as Love Me For A Reason, Father and Son and Picture of You.
Band members Ronan Keating , Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mikey Graham are looking forward to the concert.
Ronan Keating said: "We love the chance to play outdoors through the summer so I'm looking forward to a great night in Durham."
Promoter Liz Doogan Hobbs, of LHG Live said: “Boyzone are a great band to work with and have a fantastic new live show planned for this summer.
“We are very excited to be bringing them to Emirates Durham."
Tickets cost £37.50 and will be available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk from 9am Friday, February 21.
