THE driver of a horse and trap suffered serious injuries after being involved in a collision with a car this morning. (Tuesday)
The incident happened near Toft Hill, Bishop Auckland at 8.30am and required the assistance of the Great North Air Ambulance.
The man is aged 42.
"The driver of the horse and trap was treated on scene before being transferred to the aircraft for the flight to JCUH in Middlesborough. He suffered chest, face and suspected pelvic injuries," a spokesman said.
