A CHARITABLE foundation has announced a partnership with one of the country's largest grant-making trusts.

County Durham Community Foundation (CDCF) has teamed up with the Garfield Weston Foundation, to grow giving and philanthropy in County Durham, Darlington and Teesside.

Established in 1958, the Garfield Weston Foundation makes grants across the UK to registered charities in the following categories: Arts, Youth, Community, Religion, Education, Health, Environment and Welfare.

Grants from Garfield Weston can be divided into two main streams: major grants of £100,000 and above and regular grants ranging between £1,000 and £99,999.

Overall, Garfield Weston supports organisations and activities which share a commitment to making a positive impact to the lives of the communities in which they work.

The organisation now wants to increase grant applications and giving in the North-East and has forged the link with County Durham Community Foundation.

The trustees at Garfield Weston are especially keen to see applications for core and project costs for charities delivering services directly to beneficiaries, especially in the welfare, youth and community fields, and also in regions of economic disadvantage.
