TWO people were taken to hospital after being cut free from the wreckage of their car after a crash north of Whitby.
The casualties were trapped following the accident on the A174 near Lythe just before 9.40pm on Monday.
Firefighters from Lythe and Whitby were called out and used heavy duty cutting gear to release the two occupants who were taken to James Cook Hospital at Middlesbrough for treatment for minor injuries.
North Yorkshire Fire Service said no other vehicle was involved in the accident.
