AN appeal for witnesses has been made after three people suffered injuries as the result a two vehicle collision.

The collision, which involved a black Mitsubishi Shogun and a silver Vauxhall Astra, happened occurred on the A174 westbound carriageway near Middlesbrough at around 6.15pm yesterday (Sunday, February 16).

The 53-year-old male driver of the Mitsubishi Shogun remains in James Cook University Hospital in a stable condition.

The 29-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall Astra and a six-year-old girl who was travelling in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. He remains on bail pending further enquiries.

Any witnesses who may have been travelling on the A174 dual carriageway between the A19 and Hemlington interchange between 6pm and 6.15pm on Sunday evening, 16th February, are asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting event number 26031.

BROKEN JAW: Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a 22-year-old man in Middlesbrough which left him with a broken jaw. The man was making his way along College Road in Middlesbrough at around 5.45am on Thursday, February 13 when he was the victim of an unprovoked attack by four of five people. He was left with numerous breaks to his jaw, requiring surgery at James Cook University Hospital. Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with further information regarding it is asked to contact PC Jonathan Burniston on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.

INDOOR CRICKET: Teams are being sought for an indoor six-a-side cricket league that is about to begin in Hartlepool. The league at the Mill House Leisure Centre is a joint initiative between the Borough Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Team, the Hartlepool District Cricket Development Group and Durham Cricket Board. It is aimed at adult male players and starts on Friday March 14. Weekly sessions will then take place from 7-9pm for eight weeks.
