FARMERS have driven two tractors 530 miles to deliver bales of straw to a cattle market affected by flooding in southern Britain.
Four members of Boroughbridge Young Farmers drove tractors owned by North Yorkshire farmers John Guttus and Jud Beniston to Sedgemoor cattle market, in Bridgewater, Somerset.
They used 1,200 litres of fuel to complete the Forage Aid initiative.
Organiser Myles Yates said: “Taking it in turns to drive, we managed to deliver it all in 27 hours, but seeing their faces made the trip worthwhile.”
