ULTRA runner Tony ‘The Fridge’ Phoenix-Morrison is running four London marathons in one day as part of his farewell challenge.
The 49-year-old grandfather, from Hebburn, South Tyneside, will be carrying his 42kg Smeg Fridge around the course in April to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
He said: “I feel this is the perfect finale and without doubt the most impossible battle I will ever face.”
Last year, Mr Phoenix-Morrison, who raised £90,000 for The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, ran 40 marathons in 40 days and found out afterwards he had suffered a fractured leg.
He said: “I am not afraid to admit just how broken I was, both physically and mentally at the end of my last challenge.
“The darkest days were immediately following the challenge, while publicly keeping a positive façade, privately the ordeal left me empty and broken.
“But I have always said that I put myself in these positions and I can take my burden off whenever I choose.
“People fighting cancer are not quite so fortunate and too many times they lose their fight altogether.”
