STOLEN COAL: Large quantities of coal and logs have been stolen from the rear yard of a house on Campbell Street in Tow Law over the past two weeks. A spokesman for Weardale Neighbourhood Policing Team said the thief must have visited the yard on several occasions. The spokesman also advised other residents to ensure property on display in a rear yard is secured. Information on the theft can be reported to police on 101.

HISTORY FILMS: Cinefilms showing Howden-le-Wear in the 1970s will be shown by Michael Haddon at Howden-le-Wear Community Centre tomorrow (February 18) at 7pm, for the Howden-le-Wear Local History Society. The films will cover various aspects of village life, such as sport and carnivals. All are welcome.

COMPUTER CLASSES: Bishop Auckland College will run two computer courses at Stanhope Community Centre both starting on Tuesday, March 4. The first running from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, will cover internet shopping. The second will run from 4.15pm to 6.15pm covering spreadsheets for the terrified. YOUTH THEATRE: Jackass Youth Theatre will perform two plays at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Friday, February 28, the first starting at 7.30pm. The youth theatre’s Wolsingham group will perform Deep in the Heart of the Forest while the Crook-based group will put on North Eastbenders. Tickets cost £3 from 03000-269524.

SHED BURGLARY: Burglars targeted a shed in Lilac Gardens in Crook sometime between 9am and 10.45pm on Sunday, February 2. Anyone with information on the break-in or who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact Crook Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
