Lanchester and District Choral and Operatic Society presents The Bartered Bride at Lanchester Methodist Church on Friday February 28 from 7.15pm.

Narrated by story teller Peter Collins, guest soloists are soprano Susan Jordan, tenor Paul Smith and bass player Jim Morgan.

NEW CHAPTER: Shoppers in Peterlee will be encouraged to start a new chapter when staff from the town’s library visit the local Asda store on Tuesday February 25. As well as joining the library, visitors will be able to find out how to get their hands on free books and e-magazines and how take advantage of free internet access. FOOTBALL SKILLS: A two day course teaching football skills and techniques to children aged six to 12 years, takes place at The Louisa Centre, Stanley from Monday February 17 and at Belle Vue Leisure Centre from Thursday February 20 from 10am-3pm each day. The cost of the course is £25 per child.

WOMEN’S INSTITUE: Ebchester and District WI is meeting on the third Thursday in the month from 1pm-3.30pm at Ebchester Village Hall.

All ladies are invited to attend GET FIT: An over-50s class is taking place at the Lanchester Community Centre’s Fitness Suite. The hour-long sessions run every Thursday from 8:45am. No need to book.

PING PONG Lanchester Community Centre is running a table tennis session between 7pm and 9pm on Wednesdays. Two Championship Table Tennis Tables are available as well as coaching from the English Table Tennis Association. Admission is £1 for under-16s and £2 for over-16s.

CHOIR MUSIC: Consett Methodist Church is hosting a concert of music by an interdenominational choir on Saturday March 15 at 6pm.
