A YOUTH club has laid on a fun night for older members of the surrounding community.
Four senior members of Oxhill Youth Club, near Stanley, secured £1,000 to fund the event, which included a pantomime and pirate themed party with a buffet afterwards.
Susan Frost, Bethany Renwick, Megan Whetstone, and Laura Davies won the funding from The Key Fund, which has the Duchess of Cambridge as its patron.
Over 60 care home residents from the area enjoyed the final performance of the club’s panto, Robinson Crusoe before the party earlier this month.
Youth leader Gail Wilson said: “They absolutely loved it.
“For some of them it was the first opportunity they had to get out to something like this in ages. They really enjoyed it and we have had lots of cards to say ‘thank you’.”
Transport was provided by Croft Taxis.
The youth club’s annual general meeting is on Monday April 7 at 7pm. All welcome.
