HOUSEHOLDERS in County Durham have the chance to get a free energy efficiency survey.
The UK’s largest energy efficiency initiative is offering 50 assessments for the Government-backed Green Deal scheme on a first-come-first-served basis.
The surveys, which usually cost £99 will show householders how they could make their homes more energy efficient.
Following an assessment, residents can choose whether or not they implement the advice and install things such as cavity wall or loft insulation or have a new gas boiler.
Jon Kershaw, head of operations at energy efficiency organisation Warm Up North, said: “The key benefit of Green Deal is that you not only get energy efficiency advice tailored specifically to your home and lifestyle, but you could also use Green Deal Finance to pay for the improvements without paying any upfront cost.
"You may even get some additional cash back through the government’s Green Deal Cash Back offer.”
