THE RSPCA has said it is still satisfied with the way animals are being looked after at a former sanctuary.
Paula Campbell, founder of Rainbow Ark Animal Sanctuary, and her supporters have previously said they have serious concerns about the way animals have been treated there since she was evicted two weeks ago.
But RSCPA officers have made several trips to the sanctuary at Milkup Bank Farm in Willington, County Durham, and after their last visit yesterday (February 13) they said they were satisfied with the animals’ condition.
A spokeswoman for the RSCPA said: “The RSPCA went back to this location again yesterday (Thursday 13 February) to check on the animals at the site and to ensure their needs are being met by those responsible for them whilst they remain there, a company brought in by the bailiffs.
"We are satisfied with the welfare of the animals but will continue to be in contact with the people on site until the situation is resolved.”
Ms Campbell was evicted by Redstone Mortgage Company after falling into arrears over her mortgage payments.
She and her supporters are now planning a legal challenge to the eviction.
After the eviction, the RSCPA took away two ponies and a cat amid concerns for their welfare.
The spokeswoman said the three animals are still with the charity.
