FORECASTERS expect calmer weather for the North-East and North Yorkshire this weekend.
Although Friday night was wet and windy in many places, with further snowfall on higher ground, forecaster Matt Dobson said Saturday would improve after a showery start.
Mr Dobson, of MeteoGroup, said: “It’s going to improve gradually over the weekend.
“Saturday will be a cloudy and wet morning, still quite breezy, with a fresh and strong north-westerly wind.
“It will take quite a bit of the afternoon to ease away, but it should be dry by 3pm or 4pm, before a cloudy and frosty night.”
Mr Dobson said Sunday will be ‘a lovely sunny day’ with top temperatures of 8C.
