A SUSPICIOUS package handed into an army barracks in Catterick Garrison was a false alarm.
North Yorkshire Police were called at 11.35am today after a suspicious package was delivered to the barracks in the Garrison.
Police officers and army bomb disposal experts examined the package which was found to be safe and of no danger to anyone.
A spokeswoman for the police said: "The call to the police was made with good intent but it was a false alarm."
A spokeswoman from the Army said it could not comment on security but that everyone in the Garrison is constantly vigilant.
The scare follows four suspect packages being delivered to Army careers offices in the South East of England.
Bomb disposal units from the Ministry of Defence were called to the recruitment centres in Oxford, Slough, Kent and Brighton.
The latest deliveries come after letter bombs arrived at offices in Hampshire, Kent and Berkshire earlier this week.
The MoD said it was aware of continuing "security incidents".
