An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with child abduction and engaging in sexual activity with an underage girl.
Thomas Daniel Ebdon is charged with eight offences, including five counts relating to engaging in sexual activity with an underage girl between January 1 and February 10.
Mr Ebdon, of Mostyn Terrace, Cockfield, near Bishop Auckland, also faces two counts of detaining a child so as to keep her from a person having lawful control relating to two teenage girls.
He appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday, February 13) where District Judge Andrew Meachin said the case would be transferred to crown court.
Mr Ebdon, who is also charged with perverting the course of justice, was remanded into custody and will appear at Durham Crown Court on Thursday, February 27.
