DOMESTIC abuse and sexual violence will be debated at a high-profile conference tomorrow (Thursday, February 13).
Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg will be joined by representatives of Durham Police, Durham County Council, Darlington Borough Council, the NHS and more for talks at The Durham Centre, in Belmont, Durham City.
It is hoped the half-day event will raise awareness of the issues across the area.
Delegates will hear what is being done to prevent the crimes, bring perpetrators to justice and support victims.
Also, a new campaign titled Love Is Many Things will be launched to raise awareness of abuse in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender relationships.
Helen Murphy, from Durham Police, said: “There is so much positive work going on in this area and we want to share that but we also know there is much to do and we need to work together in partnership to do this.”
Mr Hogg said: “Tackling harm caused by domestic abuse and sexual violence is one of my policing priorities.”
