BRITISH Transport Police is investigating after a 45-year-old woman from County Durham suffered transphobic abuse on a train.
The incident happened between Kings Cross and Durham, between 7.45pm and 10.50pm, on Thursday, January 30.
PC Jeremy Webster said: “Four men, believed to be heavily under the influence of alcohol, began playing loud music and shouting and swearing.
The victim got up to put something in a bin. As she did so she was subjected to transphobic abuse from one of the members of the group.
15 minutes later she was approached by the man, who abused her again.” Witnesses are asked to call BTP on 0800-40-50-40, or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
‘SCAM MAIL’: Householders are being urged to be vigilant after a man living on the outskirts of Darlington, received a letter from someone claiming to be a business relations manager at a bank in Hong Kong. The letter offered the householder a chance to claim a share of an unclaimed $16.4m shares portfolio. The householder, who asked not to be named, urged others who receive similar letters to ignore them.
