NEWCASTLE United boss Alan Pardew daydreams of flying squirrels, ex-Sunderland coach Lawrie McMenemy sees shots going over the bar and Benidorm star Tim Healy pictures a cat’s bottom.

Doodles created by a host of stars are to be put up for auction to raise money for the charity Epilepsy Action.

The celebrity scribbles are to be sold off on eBay in an online auction starting on March 7, which has been designated National Doodle Day.

Whether the doodles shed any light on the celebrities’ inner thoughts is unclear, but several show quite a bit of artistic flair.

Guisborough-born X Factor finalist Abi Alton donated a doodle of a geometric flower. She said: "I am a massive daydreamer so I am always doodling. Epilepsy runs in my family so this is a subject close to my heart."

Among the other famous faces offering their artwork for sale are botanist David Bellamy, presenter Sir Michael Parkinson, actor Bill Nighy and comedian John Bishop.

Philippa Cartwright, fundraising events manager at Epilepsy Action, added: "Every year we are overwhelmed with the positive support that we receive from celebrities and members of the public alike.

"The celebrity doodle auction is always a terrific success, raising thousands of pounds in much-needed funds for Epilepsy Action.

"The highest-grossing doodle ever raised £1,600 alone, so this event really does make a huge difference to people with epilepsy and their families."

Members of the public can also create their own masterpiece with prizes for the best doodlers.

Further information is available at nationaldoodleday.org.uk. The auction runs until March 16 and the competition closes on April 4.
