FRAUDSTERS are trying to cash in on Sunderland fans’cup final fever.
The club, the police and the Football League are investigating attempts to sell illegally tickets to Black Cats supporters for the Capital One Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday, March 2.
It says that standard tickets for the Sunderland end can only be purchased through the club’s official channels.
In a statement the club said: “Supporters are reminded that each ticket is registered and traceable to the individual who purchased it. “Under the terms and conditions of issue, anyone found attempting to sell, or who has sold tickets for the game, will have the tickets cancelled and will also jeopardise their SAFC season card.
“The club would also like to advise supporters to exercise caution by not posting pictures of their tickets on social media."
Season card holders can only purchase their ticket in-person at the Stadium of Light ticket office or by telephone, on the 24 hour hotline number, 0871 911 1973.
Applications cannot be made online for the cup final. Supporters must have their customer number available when buying tickets.
