A CHARITY which folded last year after half a century of supporting good causes in north Durham is re-forming.
Lanchester Lions, which has for years organised the village carnival and fireworks display, ceased in July due to a lack of members.
But the group is being re-launched with a race night to attract interest this weekend.
It is hoped the newly formed group will include younger members and women are welcome for the first time in its history.
Peter Oakley, former president of City of Durham Lions, said: “This is by popular request as people in Lanchester have been fundraising for 50 years.
“We are hoping for a massive response.”
A charity race night in aid of Willow Burn Hospice is being held at Lanchester Social Club on Saturday, February 15 from 7pm where people can find out more about the work Lanchester Lions will carry out. Entry costs £2.
