A FOOTBALL charity is hoping to attract thousands of runners for one of its most popular fundraisers
The Foundation of Light, the official charity of Sunderland AFC, will hold its annual Lambton 10k run and 3k fun run on Sunday June 29 in the grounds of the estate at Chester-le-Street, County Durham.
The Lambton Estate is the setting for the BBC TV drama The Paradise.
Foundation events co-ordinator Jemma Garrett said: “The Lambton 10k and 3k event is one of the most unique on the running calendar and certainly offers one of the best backdrops.
“Every year competitive runners and fun runners from across the North-East line up to take part and we’re hoping for a record turnout in 2014.”
Entries are now open for the event, sponsored by Cestria Community Housing, and cost from £12 per person for the 10k and from £6 per person for the 3k.
Proceeds will help fund the foundation’s sport and education-based programmes, which benefit more than 42,000 young people and families a year.
