POLICE are warning people not to enter a fire-damaged shop after reports of thieves going inside to steal food and drinks.
The Nisa store on Tow law’s High Street was gutted by a blaze at the end of December.
Weardale Neighbrohood Policing Team have now issued a warning telling people not to go inside.
A spokesman said: “We have received reports of persons entering the Nisa Store in Tow Law, which was destroyed by fire at the end of December.
“The building itself is not safe and poses a threat to anybody who enters.
“The building has been stripped of all valuable items and stock and is due to be fully demolished shortly.
“Reports have been made of persons of varying ages gaining access for various food and drink items.
"Anybody caught on site or in possession of such items will be dealt with accordingly by police.
“We would like to remind you that this behaviour could potentially pose a threat to whoever is doing it and should be reported to us on 101.”
