A HAIRDRESSING competition for crimpers in the North-East has been held today. (Monday, February 10)
The annual Association of Hairdressers and Therapists Regional Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Competition was held at the Federation Brewery, in Gateshead.
It included hair and beauty students from across the region who competed in teams against other colleges at the regional heat.
There were 13 rounds including classical make-up, blow dry, men’s commercial cut and finish, ladies evening style, ladies freestyle event and a commercial nail art competition.
The main attraction was the total team look presentation with a 1950s theme, which was won by East Durham College with New College Durham runners up.
Lindsay Deswert, lead practitioner in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy at New College Durham, who is AHT chairman and competition director, said: “There were 12 centres across the North-East competing in today’s regional heat and the standard of work was extremely high.”
