THE North-East will be flying the flag for the Commonwealth next month.
Councils in the region will take part in national celebrations to mark Commonwealth Day on Monday, March 10.
County Durham’s Lord-Lieutenant, Sue Snowdon, has presented Commonwealth flags to all four councils in the lieutenancy area, Durham, Darlington, Stockton and Hartlepool, at a ceremony in Durham City.
On the day, 500 emblems will be simultaneously raised throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
