A MAN and his dog were rescued from a cliff edge in Cayton Bay, Scarborough, on Friday morning after Labrador-cross Sam fell about 250 feet.
The alarm was raised after Sam fell too far for his owner to safely move him himself from the coastal cliff edge.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the Coastguard were involved in the rescue, which was reported just after 11.30am on Friday morning.
Sam’s owner had made his way down the cliff to the beach and then climbed back up to where nine-year-old Sam had landed so his furry friend did not have to wait for rescue alone.
Both man and dog were carried back up the cliff and Sam was taken to a nearby vet as a precaution – but luckily he had not suffered any serious injuries.
