In the February 8, 2014, edition of The Northern Echo, and on this website, we published a report from Durham Crown Court about Steven Gowland, of Martin Street, Stanhope, being jailed for collecting indecent pictures of children.
The report was accompanied by a photograph of a man we believed to be Mr Gowland. The picture is, in fact, Mr John Maughan, of Wolsingham.
We wish to make it clear that Mr Maughan has no connection with the case whatsoever and we sincerely apologise to him and his family for the error.
