THE four people arrested in connection with a violent assault that has left a man in a coma have been released on police bail.

Gerard Williams suffered fractures to his skull, arms and legs as a result of the brutal attack, in what police described as a deliberately targeted and sustained assault.

The 43-year-old father-of-three remains in a stable condition at The James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, after police discovered his badly beaten body on grassland in the Whinney Banks area of Middlesbrough last Thursday.
