A TEENAGER has been ordered to pay £100 compensation after kicking a man in the head as he lay on the ground unconscious.
The victim was left with a cut to the back of the head and minor facial injuries after being kicked by Jack Stansfield, magistrates in Newton Aycliffe were told.
The 19-year-old admitted assaulting the man outside the Raby Arms in Barnard Castle shortly after midnight on December 8 last year.
Prosecutor Vicky Wilson said Stansfield, who is planning to join the army, had argued with the man outside the pub.
She said the victim was then knocked unconscious by another person, and it was while he was lying on the ground that Stansfield kicked him in the head.
In mitigation the court heard Stansfield immediately gave himself up to police and was extremely remorseful about the attack.
Magistrates ordered Stansfield, of Fairfield Road in Barnard Castle, to pay £100 compensation, a £37 fine and £20 victim surcharge.
