FIGURES published by the Skills Funding Agency has shown that the overall success rate for New College Durham is significantly above the national average.
According to the government agency, New College Durham achieved an overall success rate of 94 per cent for its further education provision. The college’s success rate is an increase on last year’s figure, making it the best in the college’s history, and 8 per cent above the national average of 86 per cent.
John Widdowson, principal and chief executive at New College Durham, said: “We are delighted to release our latest success rate. Results like this come from the hard work, success and ability of our students, and to get that hard work and success you need dedicated and inspiring staff, which is what we have at New College Durham. We will continue to ensure that every one of our students has the opportunity and support to fulfill their potential and achieve success.”
Within the college, the sixth form centre had an overall pass rate of 99 per cent. More than 200 students are currently studying from a range of 19 different A Level subject areas at the sixth form centre. Jon Ridley, head of sixth form, said: “The excellent pass rate reflects the A Level student’s hard work and commitment over the past two years.”
