SCARBOROUGH’S Mark Richardson - better known as the drummer from Skunk Anansie – has become a tutor for the UK’s first online music degree.
Mr Richardson and his band sold more than six million albums with Skunk Anansie, appeared on magazine covers and scored 11 hit records with band Little Angels. He also played the world’s biggest festival and venues with both bands and Feeder.
He has now become a tutor at E-MU, the UK and Europe’s first and only online music degree.
His career highlights include supporting Bon Jovi and Billy Idol, headlining Glastonbury, touring South Africa after the demise of apartheid and playing at Nelson Mandela’s 80th birthday party.
Mr Richardson is now producing and filming the lectures for E-MU and is working to develop the BA (Hons) in Creative Musicianship in Drums course that is coming soon.
Developed by British company E-MU and run in partnership with Falmouth University , the degree is the first fully online music degree in Europe and offers musicians the chance to study for a full Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in music, for as little as £3,500 a year.
Aspiring musicians can apply at emuedu.com for courses in guitar, songwriting and music management starting in September 2014. These will be followed by courses in bass, drums, and vocals.
