A CORONER has held a review into the death of a teenager found hanged at a house party last December.
Sarah Clerkson, originally from Sunderland, was discovered at a house in Ash Grove, Spennymoor, County Durham, during the early hours of Sunday, December 8.
The 14-year-old was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, in Durham City, but medics were unable to save her.
Miss Clerkson was believed to have been in foster care provided by Sunderland City Council.
An inquest into her death was opened and adjourned at Crook Civic Centre, in Crook, County Durham, on December 13.
Today (Tuesday, February 4), at the same location, coroners’ officer Charlotte Peacock gave coroner Andrew Tweddle an update on the evidence gathered to date.
“I have managed to get statements from the police in relation to how she was found,” she said. “Further enquiries are ongoing.”
A further review will take place on Friday, March 7.
Mr Tweddle said Miss Clerkson’s family had chosen not to attend the hearing.
