SET PRICE: The George and Dragon community pub in Hudswell is now offering two meals for a set price Wednesday to Saturday.

On Wednesday there will be pie and peas, two for £10; on Thursday two curry dishes for £15; on Friday two fish and chip meals for £12; and on Saturday two steak dinners for £20.

On Friday, February 14, the pub is offering a French night for Valentine’s Day, with three courses for £15.

POSTER COMPETITION: Children are being given the chance to show their artistic side in a Tour de France poster competition launched by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.

Youngsters in schools in the national park and within five miles of it could win £50 worth of tokens donated by Leyburn Bikes and £100 for their class.

The poster competition also coincides with the 60th anniversary of the creation of the national park.

The competition is open to pupils between the ages of five and 16, and the closing date for entries is April 4.

HOMEMADE CHOCOLATES: Chocolate and coffee shop Mocha, in Richmond Market Place, is now making its own gourmet truffles and chocolates.

Owner Dennis Graves has recently trained in chocolate making to take the next step after offering British and Belgian truffles from other suppliers.

The truffles are made from fresh local cream and will soon be available in different flavours, with a selection currently being prepared for Valentine’s Day.

Mocha also serves ice cream, gourmet dog treats and daily and sugar free treats.
