STUDENTS at Yarm School have let their learning do the talking after being offered places on courses at the UK’s ‘elite’ universities.

Nine of the 109 upper sixth students will be attending prestigious ‘Oxbridge’ colleges - which includes colleges from across Oxford University and Cambridge University - provided they now meet the A level entry requirements.

Students Rachel Brennan, Robin Croft, Thomas Dorrington, Christopher Masterman and Matthew Wales have all been offered places at sister colleges of Cambridge University, while Dominic Abbott, Hannah McCullagh, Steven Rose and Sagar Vaze have been accepted to study at Oxford University colleges.

Hannah McCullagh had two reasons to celebrate, as she was awarded a prestigious choral scholarship at St Peter’s College Oxford, which was auditioned and interviewed for separately.

David Dunn, Headmaster at Yarm School, said: “I am delighted for all of the students. They have all worked extremely hard in their studies and the offers they have earned at the Oxford and Cambridge colleges are fully deserved.”

Mr Dunn added: “It is a testament to the students’ dedication to their studies and extra-curricular activities, as well as the high standard of teaching here at Yarm School. I would like to wish all nine of the students all the best with their studies and careers.”
