A LITTLE girl who captured the nation's hearts after surviving the Dreamspace tragedy has been presented with a certificate for helping switch on her community's Christmas lights.

Three-year-old Rosie Wright, who was earlier this year presented with the Most Courageous Child title in London's West End, performed the honours in her hometown of Langley Park, near Durham City.

The presentation by Langley Park Parish Council chairman Alan Mollon at Langley Park Primary school, was also made to two fellow pupils Anthony Peart, ten and Rebecca Jameson, who joined her on the night.

Rosie suffered horrific injuries during the Dreamspace tragedy when she was thrown from the inflatable artwork during a family outing to Chester-le-Street, in July.

School headteacher Dorothy Brennan said: "Rosie has settled well into the nursery school. She is really enthusiastic and has lots of little friends. People in the village are delighted she has done so well."

Anthony Peart was chosen to help switch on the lights after winning the school's Tanya Vickers Memorial Trophy, for being the child that was most helpful and cheerful around the school.

Rebecca Jameson had a number of health problems and dealt with those in a "really tremendous way", said Ms Brennan.
