MOST children don't learn a foreign language until secondary school - but pupils at Alderman Leach Primary School are one step ahead.
They have just successfully performed a Nativity play in both English and Polish to packed audiences.
Teacher Anne-Marie Ainsley, who came up with the idea, said the play had been a huge success.
"It went very well," she said. "The hall was absolutely packed and there were no spare seats. We received a lot of positive feedback.
"The Polish parents were delighted to hear the children say good morning to them in their own language."
Alderman Leach has three Polish pupils, aged three, five, and eight. There were 78 pupils in the play.
The translation was provided by Marta Wojcik, 22, a Polish teaching assistant who is on a placement at the school until April.
Each line of the Nativity, performed last Thursday, was said in both languages. Alderman Leach has also started Polish classes for five and six-year-olds/
