REGULARS at a village pub have undergone training to become lifesavers.
The Buck Inn, in Maunby, near Northallerton, was the base for volunteers looking to join a first responder scheme.
Run by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, the scheme saw locals undergo months of training.
Volunteer Gary Hudson, said: "This is the culmination of so much hard work over the past 18 months.
"And our dedicated team of volunteers have really got stuck in. They've taken the training sessions very seriously and had to work very hard.
"Maunby is only a little village, but it should be extremely proud of this new scheme. It's a wonderful achievement."
The team is trained in resuscitation, choking relief and other lifesaving measures.
The volunteers also helped raise £1,000 to buy a defibrillator, with the British Heart Foundation also giving £1,000.
Landlady Margaret Plews said: "We're quite an isolated village, so it's important to have a team of volunteers on hand."
