TWO toddlers were taken to hospital after being seriously injured in a car crash.
A collision between two cars on the A66 between Sadberge and Elton, near Stockton, left a two-year-old unconscious with two fractures to a leg, while a 21 month old sibling suffered a broken leg.
Both children had been strapped in baby seats on the rear seat of a Nissan Micra, being driven by their mother.
It was in collision with a Volkswagon Golf, travelling behind it, on the eastbound carriageway, heading towards Teesside at around 2.30pm today.
The 21-month old child was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital, while the other toddler and mum were taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Tees at Stockton.
Fire fighters from Stockton assisted paramedics in giving oxygen to the injured.
The A66 was partially closed, with eastbound traffic diverted towards Sedgefield by police at the Great Burdon roundabout, on the edge of Darlington.
