A CHURCH has given the Nativity story a glamorous Hollywood makeover.
Etherley Methodist Church, near Bishop Auckland, turned the traditional Christmas story into "God's Angels", a production based on the Charlie's Angels TV show and hit movies.
In the adaptation, which was performed at the church's family service on Sunday, God gives three secret agent angels the mission of telling the Virgin Mary that she will give birth to Jesus, and calming the fears of her husband, Joseph.
Starring Emma Clement, Sarah Newton and Grace Wakes as the angel agents, the performance also included more traditional visits from the shepherds and the wise men.
Junior church leader Marie Cadman said: "Everyone who took part was brilliant and hopefully everyone who watched had a good time.
"The Nativity story doesn't need hyping up, but we thought this was a fun way of retelling it."
