AN award-winning post office has shared its winnings to give £750 to charity.

Staff from the Redcar post office decided to hand over the cash to The Katie Trust, a charity which provides funding for research into children's cancers.

The Redcar branch was voted best Crown Post Office in the country last month, and received its award from GMTV's Lorraine Kelly during a ceremony in London.

Branch manager Gillian Alstead said: "We wanted to help a local charity, and The Katie Trust was a unanimous choice when we sat down to discuss it."

The money was presented to Martin Neal, who set up the trust in memory of his six-year-old daughter, Katie.
